Nopamine ("the app", "we", "us") is a mindful screen-time companion. This policy explains what data the app handles and what leaves your device. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone, we have no accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't show ads.

No account, no sign-in

Nopamine has no user accounts. You don't create a login, and we never ask for your name, email, or any contact details to use the app. Your identity is your device.

What stays on your device and never leaves it

The following is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else:

• Which apps you choose to block (stored as Apple's opaque Screen Time tokens — we never receive app names or identities).
• Your calm windows and Calm Mode settings.
• Your companion — its name, species, coat, and history.
• Every reflection you log: what pulled you in ("triggers"), where you were, and your notes.
• Your record of resisted urges, calm windows, and feedings.

The app is designed so this sensitive information physically cannot reach us.

Screen Time (Family Controls)

Nopamine uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity) to block the apps you choose during the times you choose. This all happens on your device. Apple provides your app selections to the app as opaque tokens — we never see which specific apps you selected, and none of this is sent off your device.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand which features are useful and improve the app, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage data using PostHog (a product-analytics service; data processed in the United States). This includes:

• App opens, and which screens/tabs are viewed.
• Anonymous counts of in-app actions — e.g. completing onboarding steps, feeding your companion, and whether a block screen resulted in resisting or continuing (as a count only).
• A randomly generated identifier that lets us count unique installs and measure retention. It is not tied to your identity, your Apple ID, or any device identifier, and your IP address is discarded.
